Savoca Destination Wedding: Exclusive venue in Sicily
As a photographer I often have the honor of shooting in dream wedding locations. And that's what happened to me recently with the marriage to Savoca of Judy and Aidan, a young Irish couple.
The right wedding venue makes the most beautiful day of your life even more exciting and memorable. And this is true both for the spouses but also for the guests.
Savoca Wedding Destination Sicily
In province of Messina, Savoca, is a charming and enchanting place, crowned among the most beautiful villages in Italy in 2008, it boasts a very ancient history. Savoca is located on a hill perched above the sea. And it is also known for the 17 mummies kept in the Capuchin Crypt, which have been the subject of international studies by a team of scientists.
The reception of this exclusive and elegant wedding was held in Borgo San Rocco. An ancient fishing village recently transformed into a luxury resort with an area that extends from vegetation to outdoor spaces.

A historic location
Furthermore this is a historical place, because here in 1972, the Godfather was filmed. Francis Ford Coppola's award-winning film that tells the story of the Corleone mafia family.
The Bar Vitelli, located in the square, is also an ideal place for a break and to take interesting photographs. This is where Michael Corleone played by Al Pacino enters for a drink. The bar today has remained just as it was in the film, becoming like a museum with photographs and props.
In the church of S. Niccolò, on the other hand, in Savoca they filmed the wedding scenes of Michael and Apollonia.
A wedding in Savoca makes the yes exclusive and elegant and far from the clamor of the city. From here you can enjoy a spectacular view and you can make photographs with incredible views. Blue skies, vegetation and an ancient village remained as they once will be an integral part of the wedding photographs in Savoca.
Getting married in Borgo San Rocco
The village is not difficult to reach and is perched on a height that can be traveled either by means or by foot. In fact, I succeeded in photographing the spouses, who have walked part of the Borgo, to the most suggestive corners of Savoca.
The view from Borgo San Rocco is breathtaking; the panorama allowed me to create beautiful portraits of the spouses and all the guests.
Moving discreetly, I managed to have fun with the guests. They had fun dancing typical Sicilian tarantellas played by musicians who arrived, after the civil ceremony, to brighten up the day.
The bride and groom wanted the images to be spontaneous and that their marriage was gladdened by our traditions.
